Bird Safe Wood
This is one of the most asked
questions. There are many things to consider for the wood that your Bird
will use to keep it's beak in good shape.
I will always err on the side of safety,
I am not certified of anything, it's your Bird and your rules so you can
do as you please. Things to
think of first Has the
tree/bush your using branches from been sprayed for any reason in the
last 15 years? Has a systemic been
used on your tree in the last 15 years?
Has an "air sprayed" anything" happened in your area in
the last 15 years?
If you answered "Yes" to any of the
above, then it's best not to use those branches no matter what they are
and how good they would be for your Bird. There would be trace amounts
of anything that was used on them.
Here is one of the things that I try to
remember; I am about 100 times as big as Beau. this means that for every
grain of salt I let him eat, it's like me eating 100 grains, or the
100:1 ratio's. Look for a variety
of different type, textured and density. Different shapes and
sizes all are important in considering either buying or making any toys. |
